Paper Embroidery Meets Couture Creations!

Today's post is for CropStop with some projects featuring Couture Creations and paper embroidery!
I am using folders from Couture Creations' Fresh and Fun collection.

As soon as I saw this folder: Fudge, I knew what I wanted to do, and being an organized pack rat, I knew right where the paper was that I wanted to use with this piece!   Chatterbox Dress Rose #29023.

Check out the fun detailing stitching this folder gives you!
Supplies for this technique are quite simple...you will want some embroidery floss, a piercing tool and a foam mat of sorts to pierce into.  I recommend piercing the indented side of the design, your thread will lay nicely in the embossed channels.  You can make your stitches as long as you like, but on the curved areas I recommend keeping them fairly close together so your stitching bends easily with the design.
On this example you can see the effect done on the Powder Puff embossing folder.  For this project I embossed on Tim Holtz's Core'dinations' Distress Collection paper, and hit the embossing with some sandpaper.
I used the embossing side up on this one because I wanted the sanding detailing to pop the puffs.  I used longer stitches with some iridescent floss for some of the puffs.   Other supplies are Martha Stewart Snowflake Punch and Candi Dot Embellishments.
My final project using this technique would be this card using the Magical embossing folder.  I selectively decided which areas to stitch and then stitched the indented side of the panel.

This is a fun way to add a whole new layer of detailing to your layouts and papercraft projects!

Live Among The Flowers!

Today I'm sharing some red rubber images from Prickley Pear called Live, Dance, Laugh and  Fanciful Flight.

I colored the stamp with my water-based markers, *huffed* to re-moisten the ink and then stamped my image on white cardstock. I cut the image out and distressed it with Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint Distress Inks.

I stamped the image again on kraft cardstock with Walnut Stain Ink and fussy cut the stamp edged border. I cut out a second bird and mounted it on foam tape.

My designer papers come from the BasicGrey Sweet Threads collection.

Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Gel Paint for MarkerPOP!

mp 4.23.13.1

Today's cards for MarkerPOP feature my first project attempts with Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Gel Paints and I combined them with Cheery Lynn Dies and My Minds Eye's Decorative Brads for some really Fun cards!
 mp 4.23.13.2
My first card features the Frost Gel Paint. I applied this paint to plain white cardstock with my finger. I dipped my finger in and then *smooched* it onto the paper several times, then re-dipped my finger and continued until I got the desired effect. I left a few spots plain cardstock and other places there were quite tall *waves* that I let dry and it is fabulously dimensional and glimmery in real life.
mp 4.23.13.3
My second card features the Rudy Pink Dimensional Gel Paint as well as the Frost. mp 4.23.13.4
I added some white paint to the white cardstock first, and then added in the pink color until I was happy with the look.
 mp 4.23.13.5
Check out that fabulous dimension!

Bunches Of From The Heart Creations!

I have a whole pile of cards to share that feature From The Heart Stamps.  Spring has sprung and it is all over this post!

This card features the What's Up Chick set and a sentiment from the Gift Trio set.  There is a bit of that wonderful washi tape on here as well as some buttons/bows from a piece of my daughter's skirt set.  What else to do when it is so tired it can't be sent on to thrift but to save the good stuff for a card!   Other pieces of fun on this card are some variegated twine and a Couture Creations embossing folder!  This was for Sketch #12 which I'm late for...but it was still fun to make and will be fun to send!

So, since I'm on a roll here...here is a card for Sketch #13.  I used the ever-adorable Anneke's Big Heart set and the Graceful Sentiments set.

My next set of cards feature the Spring Baskets set.  The dust has settled from the spring celebrations, but Spring hasn't shown up on my doorstep yet....so here as one more dose of springy inspiration!
All images colored with Copic Markers.

Here is another great image from that set paired up with some My Minds' Eye goodness!
Or we can switch up the color scheme and add some perfect pearls/Tim Holtz reinker colored butterflies and a beautiful Exotic Couture Creations embossing folder!
This is a fun image to wish someone a bit o'luck featuring Wee Bit and Lots O Luck set.
or Happy Spring!

Wishy Washy Project and Card

It's my day on the MarkerPOP blog...and today I'm sharing some lovely washi tape!  I have this attraction to the stuff...and though it's really tempting to just collect and hoard it....I'm trying really hard to use it and enjoy it!

I picked up this Butterfly Album from a clearance bin lately and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it!
This will be a mini album, and what better way to embellish the cover than with this uber-cool tape?!  I love the pink and orange versions, so thus the color scheme of my card and project was born....pink, orange and green!
The front cover I did up with the pink tape and added some pink gems on the butterfly body.
The back cover is done up with the orange tape and some flat copper nailheads for the butterfly body.
And then a card, because I'm the card girl...I *love* making cards...they are like mini pieces of art...the process of taking lots of bits and pieces and turning it into a cute card is so fun and relaxing to me!  Of course there is some MORE washi tape peeking out at the bottom of the card.

Supplies:
*CC Designs Butterfly Labels
*CC Designs Beautiful Lucy
*Copic Markers:  YG23, E35, YR24, YR23, E02, E00, Y38, YR04, Y21, R85, R83, R81

Tribal Masks Take 2

Happy Monday!  Last week I shared a tutorial for Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps using these four Tribal Masks to make some spring-ish sorts of cards!

Tribal Mask 1 - CC0027
Tribal Mask 2 - CC0028
Tribal Mask 3 - CC0029
Tribal Mask 4 - CC0030

Also rambling around in my head was the idea to use kraft cardstock and white gel pen on them.  I'm thinking these masks are probably supposed to be more colorful...so maybe there is another version coming someday!  LOL!

I stamped these on kraft cardstock and then used E44 and E43 Copic markers and a white gel pen to gussy them up a bit.

Journey - D0021 is the sentiment I used.
Pop on over to the Prickley Pear blog to see what the rest of the girls have been up to!

UnMasking Spring with Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps!

Hello there!  I have a Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps tutorial for you today!  Let's think outside the box and UN-mask Spring!!
In the store you will find four little images that I knew exactly what I was going to do with as soon as I saw them!
The names of those images, you ask?!    Tribal Masks 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I will have some cards soon using these images in a more traditional way...but I have spring on my mind...and so these very fun an fabulous flowers were born!
Check these babies out, all dolled up with Copic Markers and a bit of white gel pen!

Double them up for a bit more fun!  The possibilities are endless!

So how do you make them you ask?!  Check out the quick tutorial below and see one more fun project!

Stamp each image out FIVE times and color as desired.  You get a peek here of my messing coloring practices, but since I'm cutting them out it doesn't matter!  More time to make different flowers!!
Dress them up with white gel pen as desired.
Next I Cut out and folded each petal over a ruler to add dimension.  Then, using some circle punches from my scrap bin and a few glue dots, I assembled my flowers.  Remember...depending on which end you stick to the middle, you will get a TWO different looks from each mask!  I reversed the order of the petals for this final set of flowers!

Ooh, so very fun on their own....and so different looking than the same masks used in the above cards!

And how fun is this all doubled up?!  Hope you've enjoyed a breath of fresh air today as I shared a walk through my paper garden!
