Something New Part 2!

I promise I'm not going all Zentangle doodly here...but after completing the large pieces I shared yesterday I needed to make this new passion fit what I DO, which is to make cards!  I had some pre-cut cards on hand from The Paper Cut which I used as a basis for my card sketch for this set of cards.

They were white glossy, however and that did not look good, so I traced them on black cardstock for the perfectly centered window and then trimmed a bit off of the outside edges so I have a black frame that I can layer on a gray cardstock panel.  I roughed up the edges a bit with my distressing tool.

These cards will be perfect for any occasion.  I could pop a sentiment on them and use them for birthdays or graduations.  Or, I will likely just write or stamp inside of the card to fit the occasion if I don't want to cover up the tangles.

What is so interesting to me is how these tiny canvases (3 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches) and a black pen and a pencil can turn into something that is so interesting to look at!

Also interesting is that there are so many patterns that look so complicated, but when broken down are really not difficult at all!
Thanks for your kind comments on my first attempts yesterday.  And, while I won't be posting tangles every day, they may pop up occasionally.  I have another card style in my head that needs to happen!

Something New...

Well...today I have a bit of something *new* to me to share with you!  I have been intrigued by Zentangle of late and starting a Zentangle Pinterest board and collecting tangle patterns has been great fun!

My son has dabbled with the technique in their middle-school art classes and I liked the idea.  Then he entered the middle school art contest and won third place with his Zentangle-inspired castle!  My aunt and mom have taken classes from a certified Zentangle teacher and so thus I thought I would see if I could work some Zentangle-inspired work into my papercrafting!

We were recently away on vacation, and downhill skiing is not my thing...so while my family had a hoot on the hill, I enjoyed some quiet hours sitting in the sun giving this technique a try.

I have had no training, and I probably did lots of things *wrong* such as using odd sized papers, my own pens and papers and going off on my own when things got a little wonky, but this isn't about rules for me, it's for my enjoyment!  I also decided I'd like to make a large sampler-sort of piece just for fun, and this is what I came up with!  The paper is 11x14 inches, so this was a bit intimidating, but I didn't let myself think about it and just kept plugging away at it.    There are a few that got away from me, since ink is there once it is there, but I was hooked by the time I finished this piece.

I had time to give a second piece a start...and was 3/4 finished with it before my vacation was over.  I used a bunch of different tangles on this one...only a few of the tangles are repeats from the first piece...and there are so many I have not even tried yet!

I have been busy since I got home...I have change formats again...and have more to share with you soon!  Have you tried Zentangle?  or do you doodle?!  It has been such a fun exploration...and now I've found another form of papercrafting that I love!

Fairy Dust!

Today' I'm sharing a little Fairy Dust with you!  This card is for Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps.  It is so much fun to create different environments for the FF0074 Fairy Dust image!   For this card I used some faux stitching and bits of some Cheery Lynn Dies.  A bit of purple bling finishes off the card!

Be sure to pop on over to the Prickley Pear blog and see what my teamies have been up to!  Lots of spring is in the air!

You're So Cool!

Yep...I have two more snowmen...but until the snowbanks are gone it's still legal! *wink!*
These are again images from Faith's Designed 2 Delight collection.  Not sure if she will roll them into the From The Heart Stamps store, but keep your eye peeled if you like them!
The hearts on each image are colored with Copic Markers and then covered in glue and glitter...very frosty!  The hats have flocking on their trims!  So cute!

Another Fun Pair of Cards and Blog Candy WINNER!

I have a few more cards to day with these happy images from Designed 2 Delight.  I'm not sure if Faith will release them in the From The Heart Stamps store or not...but they are in my collection and I love them!  Birds and flowers just speak spring, don't they?
Once again, the change of color scheme and layout can give the images a totally different appearance!  I had fun coloing these images up every which way!

And now, here is my February winner for comments!  Sorry I'm late with the picking...I got my company sooner than expected this weekend....but it's better late than never!

From The Heart Farewell....

I'm a little sad today...but the time has come for me to step away from the From The Heart Stamps Design Team.  I have loved every minute of my time designing for Faith...from the Designed 2 Delight days until now!  A big thank you to Faith for all of the fun over the years!

I will still be creating lots of cards with Faith's beautiful images...both from her current From The Heart Stamps collection as well as some that I just love from the Designed 2 Delight days like this adorable image!
I used copic markers to color my images...and I made the rosette on this card using May Arts ribbon!
I hear the birds singing again in our neighborhood...and it makes my heart sing!

Flowers in Bloom...

Today's card for Prickley Pear is one that is in bloom!   I used JJ0043 Daisies in Boot which I colores with Copic Markers.  The background is distressed with distress inks.  I masked the edges of the panel so they would remain crisp and white!

The die in the background is from Cheery Lynn, the designer paper from K and Company and the ribbon is seam binding!  A few Candi dots in chips finish my card.

Be sure to pop on over to the Prickley Pear blog to be inspired by the other design team members' work!

Try It Different Tuesday: Whale, Hello!

Jackie posted four of my cards on the Inky Antics Blog today...and here is her post!  Enjoy!
***************************************

Whale, hello there, Inky friends! Yeah, I just said that. You know me, always so punny. ;-) But I can't help myself, especially with today's cards, which are a ton of fun.

Our friend and talented Inky designer Michelle Pearson created a bunch of wonderful cards using 11218MC Whale HoneyPOP Clear Set (drawn by artist Tammy DeYoung):

Look at this cute fella on the outside:

When you open the card, you'll sea the fun HoneyPOP surprises inside:

Yep, there's a honeycomb spout and waves! Here's a different version, which I think is whale-y cute:

The card inside is about the same, except Michelle added Candi Dots in the upper left:

Of course, you already know that HoneyPOP stamp sets make terrific "regular" cards, too. The torn paper accents on this one look like foam on the water:

With this stamp set, you can choose to add the groovy swirly patterns to the whale...or not, as you wish. All of today's cards contain the pattern:

How many silly whale puns did you find in my post? And which card did you like best? Please leave me a comment, which will also be your entry for a BLOG CANDY giveaway.

This Saturday, March 15th, I'll randomly choose the winner for 11218MC Whale HoneyPOP Clear Set and coordinating honeycomb paper. I'll post the lucky person's name here on the blog, so please check back to see if you've won!

Birthday Birds!

Happy Monday!  I have some springy cards for you today...the same card just done up with different coloring and papers...such fun!

I embellished the flowers with a white gel pen and colored the image with Copic markers.  I did some fussy cutting around the image so that the window die was visible behind the birds.

When I was typing up the post I see these were supposed to be Chickadees, and it looks like I goofed up twice...but I think they work nicely as any sort of little bird!

If you haven't yet, pop on over to the Prickley Pear blog and check out what the design team girls have been up to!  Don't forget to leave comments here and there for your chance to win some goodies!

From The Heart Stamps Sketch 56

It is another Double Post Monday...and time for a new sketch challenge on the From The Heart Stamps Blog!    Be sure to pop over there and play along for your chance to win some fun!

Here is my take on the sketch using the Birdbrain Snowman set.  These fellows are so much fun to color!  I used Copic Markers:  E47, B45, BG10, YR16, Y17, Y15.

I added a metallic snowflake brad, a few punched pieces and some doodling with a white gel pen to finish my card.
