Tea and Butterfly Wishes

Here are the last of the Catherine Scanlon cards for Art Gone Wild.  These images have been a hoot to color with Copic Markers.  I actually cut an image in half on this card just for fun and to make myself a 3rd embellishment.
I had lots of butterflies, so decided to make a square gate fold card to showcase them.
I only attached the butterflies to the card with their bodies, so the wings can be bent up for some fun dimension!
Then the card opens up to reveal the secret message and your note inside.  So fun!
I hope these cards have made you smile...they sure have been fun to create!!

Lotsa Cards....

I have been making a glut of cards it when they just happen!  Now I need to sit down and write up blog posts.

The cards today are using Catherine Scanlon designs for Art Gone Wild...I did paper embroidery on embossed paper for this one.  Actually I embossed the paper after I embroidered it for this fun look.
For this card I added a touch of Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen detailing to the embossed background.

Polka Dotty....

These cards are all based on some wrapping paper I picked up at TJ Maxx several years ago.  I decided to use it for my niece's wedding shower and then wedding present.  I could not toss the scraps, because this paper is just too cool!  So, I stitched a bunch of it to some Chocolate Truffle cardstock with white embroidery floss!

This first card uses white photo corners that have been embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The apples have been embossed on vellum and then colored with Copic markers on the back.  I attached the image to the cardstock with glue dots after fussy cutting it.  The sentiment is a chalkboard sticker I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  A whole pack, so fun!
This card features some old Whipper Snapper images and a few Martha Stewart snowflakes.
And this card features an old Stampin Up! tulip and a few Martha Stewart buterflies.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hi there!  Fall has kept me busy!  We enjoyed a few family days that kept me out of the studio...and then I had a fun project for our piano teacher....I made her this folk art keyboard out of clothes pins.  It will hang on the wall and will hold the practice incentives for each of her piano students this year!
Part of that project also included making 65 charms....I made these and lots more shrinky dink keyboards....
And then some vintage sheet music medallions, in various glittery colors and some in copper for the young men!  Very fun!  I had some epoxy circle stickers that have yellowed over the years...but I'm glad I kept them because they were perfectly fine for the vintage sheet music and were the perfect finishing touch!

Have A Glittery Mad Halloween!

I have a glittery creation for The Rubber Cafe today!  Today I am using the Monster Bash Creative Cafe Kit as well as the add-on set Monster Lab.

I decided that this card needed a bit of glitter, so I added strips of scor-tape on the background designer paper and used coordinating colors of glitter:  Limeade Green, Copper and Purple Rocks.
I also put glitter around the edges of a 3 1/2 x 2 5/8 inch piece of cardstock to create a mat for my image.
I stamped and colored my image up with Copic markers.  Then it is an easy thing to pop it onto the glittered frame with foam tape for a bit of lift.

The enamel dots in the kit are the perfect touch to embellish this spooky potion.
HINT:  It is a fun touch to let a bubble or two hang off of the image panel. like they are floating away.

I stamped and colored the lightning bolts and embellished them with a white gel pen.  I let a lightning bolt hang off the image panel as well.

Catherine Scanlon Daisies!

I have another beautiful floral card for you today!  This is another Catherine Scanlon image for Art Gone Wild.  This image is called Daisies and is quite large.  The finished card measures 5 x 7 inches!

I colored the image with Copic Markers and fussy cut it leaving a narrow white border.  I popped the image up on a glitter panel that I attached to my card with paper embroidery.  The swirly stitching is from a Lasting Impressions Stitching Guide SG300.  I used brown embroidery floss.

The sentiment is from the Orb Sentiments set.

Happy Fall, y'all!

If The Broom Fits, Ride It and Other Tips!

I have one more card for The Rubber Cafe using the Monster Bash Creative Cafe Kit.  I once again used the Spooky Feet stamp set for this card.

TIP #1  Look at the paper included in each kit.  I love doing simple things like cutting out a border to make a fun impact on a card.  In this case I just cut out the chevron paper so the dot paper can peek out from behind.

TIP #2  Look at the embellishments and see how you can combine them to create a new embellishment.    I wasn't too keen on the buttons for my card, but I wondered what it would look like if I popped a gem on them.  Now it looks like I have gem-topped brads and I still can use the buttons and gems separately if I wish to!

As you can see, I did a spot of fussy cutting once again.  I popped the broom and her toes up with foam tape...resulting in a fun whimsical Halloween greeting!

Peony Birthday

Oooh-La-La!  I just love this Catherine Scanlon image from Art Gone Wild called Arrangement.
I colored the image up with Copic markers and fussy cut it, leaving a narrow white border.

I embossed some cardstock with the Exotic embossing folder from Couture Creations.  I did a fair amount of paper embroidery with white floss.  I added a few Candi dots and a sentiment from the Orb Sentiments set.

This card is a 6x6 inch card.  I can see changing the sentiment and framing this beauty!!  Hmmm...I just might!!

Thanks for popping by!  Have a happy day!!

More Catherine Scanlon Card Ideas!

So happy I got asked to make a few more samples for the Catherine Scanlon line of images with Art Gone Wild!  These cards are a treat to color with Copic Markers!  This card features the Fifteen Orbs image.  The size of the finished card is 5 x 7 inches.  I cut the image out and popped it onto a glittery mat with foam tape.  The glittery mat is matted in white cardstock and then popped up on the base card with foam tape.

I added a butterfly to the image from the Butterflies set.  I attached the butterfly body with glue dots and then bent the wings upwards for some dimension.

The sentiment comes from the Orb Sentiments set.  I simply added the punched 1 1/2 inch sentiment with foam tape to a punched 1 3/4 inch circle of glitter paper.  I attached the sentiment to the card with foam tape as well for some fun dimension.
This card features the beautiful Stacked image and a sentiment from the Simply Stated set.  I added some embossing and some paper embroidery to finish my card simply.

Thanks for stopping by!  Which card attracts you?

Smelly Feet and Embellsihed Ribbon!

It is time for The Rubber Cafe's new Creative Cafe Kit.  This month's kit is called Monster Bash.  I used the Spooky Feet stamp set for this card as well as the enamel dots, ribbon and gems included in this kit.

The purple card base is 5 1/4 x 4 inches, and I added some black ink with a sponge around the edges to distress it a bit.  I stamped my sentiments on various papers from the included paper pad and cut banner ends on them before attaching them to the card.

TIP:  Check out how I added dimension to the ribbon with the enamel dots!  I simply scattered them around on the ribbon, placing some on the various dots and even trimming some of them in half so they appear to be part of the ribbon.  I love this look and will be keeping it mind for future creations!

The feet are colored with Copic markers and fussy cut.  I tucked the various feet under the ribbon strip that has been attached to black cardstock.  I popped the toes up with foam tape and this layout is fun because you can vary the feet positions a bit from the way they stamp, I tipped them a bit for a more casual feel!  My final touch was some gems up in the upper right corner of the card.

No Bones About It

Today's card for The Rubber Cafe features the Monster Bash Creative Cafe Kit.  For this set I used images from the add-on stamp set Monster Lab.

I picked the funky pumpkins from the designer paper pad and cut it to 5 1/4 x 4 inches.  For a fun touch I doodled around the edge.  I selected a few coordinating papers to stamp my sentiments out on.

I used fussy cutting on a chevron piece to form a fun border.  The gems layered on buttons are my tip of the month...why not layer the embellishments up and create a new look?

Fungus Amongus Card Trio!

Today I have three cards showcasing the Catherine Scanlon mushroom images for Art Gone Wild.
I had fun going a different direction after the floral images.  This card features the Fungus Amongus 3 image along with a sentiment created from the Words of Wisdom 3 set.   I wrapped some May Arts SM10 twine around the card for a more natural touch.
This card features the Fungus Amongus 2 image and another sentiment created from the Words of Wisdom 3 set. I used a wood grain Cuttlebug embossing folder and some twine to embellish this card.
Finally, for this card I used the Fungus Amongus 1 image and another sentiment created from the Words of Wisdom 3 set.  I used a background strip that I created using reinkers and shaving cream.  All images are colored with Copic markers.

More Catherine Scanlon Florals!

I have a few more of the new Catherine Scanlon images from Art Gone Wild to share today.  This first one is a pretty one, called Elegant Flower Frame.   I colored the image with Copic markers, I popped up the blue flowers and added some paper embroidery detailing.  There are several sentiments that fit in the frame, I chose to use a birthday sentiment from Words of Wisdom 2.
And she also has pretty seasonal sets for the winter holidays coming up.  I used two images from the Pinecones set, the flower from the Poinsettia set and the sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments set.

Hello Sunshine!

I have a fun card for you today using Art Gone Wild images.  These images are by designer Catherine Scanlon and are the Late 2015 release.

These particular images are quite large, so this is a non-standard sized card.  The  card is 5 1/2 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches tall.
I attached the Hello Sunshine sentiment with a glitter brad so it can swing upwards to reveal the message.  For mailing the Hello Sunshine can be swung down so the overall card height would be 5 1/4 inches and would fit in an envelope.

The card is colored with Copic markers and I added a touch of paper embroidery around the Hello Sunshine panel and sprinkled a few sequins on as a finishing touch.

Vintage Winter Cards

Back to School for the kiddos today...hard to believe how fast the summer flew by....that is the way of life I think....we will look back one day and wonder where it went!

I have been busy playing with winter cards.  I have some fabulous paper from K&Co called Yuletide Poinsettia.  I love the colors and the ivory, red and green swirls that are debossed and glossy.  I added some paper embroidery with 2 strands of white embroidery floss.  I think there is nothing quite like the touch of hand embroidery to really dress up a card.

The brown swirls on these cards?  They are scraps from dies I have cut.  I just couldn't quite toss those scraps after cutting out dies....and looky here....I have used up quite a few on these few cards!  I love that when I can re-purpose junk!
I have been having much fun playing with some vintage sheet music.  Some that I have acquired from tag sales that has seen it's better days....some from some long neglected piano books...what a fun touch on the page...and the bonus is that it is pre-distressed!!  The large showflake dies on this card are cut from some wallpaper...I did that about 20 years ago!  Just found them the other day...and figured they might as well live on a card!  I think I found them a perfect home!
I wasn't sure about this Tim Holtz snowflake border that I thought I had to have.  It was on it's way out the door...but then the sample I cut landed on this card.  What do you it a keeper?
